About Me

As Head of the Reference Services Department at Alkek Library, I oversee the day to day operations of the department including the Reference Desk and the Ask a Librarian service. I also provide leadership in the vision and planning of Reference Services to the department made up of five Reference and Instruction Librarians, the Faculty Outreach Librarian, and the Special Projects Librarian.

I began working at Texas State University in 1999 in the Periodicals Unit of Alkek. I earned a Masters in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. In 2004, I began as the Virtual Reference Services Librarian managing the Ask a Librarian service. At that time, I also became the Sociology and Criminal Justice librarian liaison. Since May 2009, I have been in my current position as Head of Reference Services.

Other areas of responsibility include the Library website and overseeing the library's social media outreach efforts. I love my job and leading a great team of reference librarians and staff at Alkek Library makes wearing the multiple hats much more rewarding.
