University Archives

Alkek Library, Room 580

Research by appointment

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

The University Archives is located on the 5th floor of the Alkek Library.  Research appointments are generally available Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm (excluding holidays and energy conservation days).

Research appointments are encouraged to allow time for retrieval of offsite materials and to reserve research space.  Walk-in assistance is dependent on staff and space availability, as researchers with appointments are given priority.

For questions, assistance, or to schedule a research appointment, contact UnivArchives@txstate.edu.

The University Archives serves as the institutional memory of Texas State University-San Marcos.  It is the official repository for non-current University records with long-term value and accepts select donations of records, artifacts, and memorabilia related to the institution that have enduring historical or research value.

The University Archives selects, organizes, describes, preserves, and makes available the institutional records that document the academics, administration, people, and culture of Texas State University-San Marcos, from its founding in 1899 to the present.  Holdings include publications, financial records, meeting minutes, oral histories, photographic negatives, audio and video recordings, preservation copies of theses and dissertations, personal papers, artifacts, and memorabilia.

To begin your research, please refer to the tabs at the top of this page.
